What Is VC University Bootcamp?

VC University Bootcamp is an intensive, in-person certificate program from the renowned VC University, designed for advanced investment professionals on the partner track. Tailored for VC University alumni who have progressed in their careers as well as new participants with equivalent experience, this four-day bootcamp equips attendees with practical knowledge, strategic insights, and leadership skills needed to step confidently into a general partner role. Through simulations, case studies, and collaborative projects, participants will deepen their expertise under the guidance of experienced facilitators and industry experts.

Program Highlights

  • Team-Based Learning: Participants will be grouped based on sector interest (e.g., life sciences, impact, software) and assigned an experienced facilitator who will support the group throughout the program.
  • Simulations & Case Studies: Engage in real-world scenarios to develop investment theses, negotiate term sheets, and manage portfolio strategies.
  • Expert Panels & Keynotes: Gain insights from leading VCs, LPs, founders, and industry pioneers.
  • Networking Events: Daily opportunities to connect with Silicon Valley experts and peers.

Who Should Participate?

VC University Bootcamp is designed for VC professionals on the path to becoming general partners, including alumni of the VC University online course; principals, partners, or equivalent roles at venture firms; emerging fund managers; and other experienced investors.

Deadlines

Participation is by application only.

Scholarship Deadline: The scholarship deadline has passed. Scholarship recipients were notified by October 17, 2025.

General Application Deadline: Friday, January 30, 2026. Please note: Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis.

Tuition, Scholarships & Discounts

Tuition: $10,000

Scholarships: Available for select applicants from underrepresented backgrounds in venture capital or those with demonstrated financial need. Scholarship recipients will be responsible for a $1,000 administration fee and all travel and lodging.

Discounts: VC University alumni, UC Berkeley alumni, Stanford alumni, NVCA members and NVCA groups, and nonprofit/government employees are eligible for a 30% discount. Groups are eligible for a 20% discount. If you qualify for a discounted rate or would like to register a group, please contact [email protected] for more information. Please note: Discounts must be applied before registering, and eligible participants may only apply one discount to the cost of tuition. Group rates are available for no more than 3 registrants per organization.

Professional Development Sponsorship: If your employer provides professional development opportunities and funding, we highly recommend asking them to subsidize the cost of tuition. This program is an excellent professional development and networking opportunity, and your employer may be willing to cover some, or all, of the costs. You are welcome to customize this template for your purposes.

Day 1: The VC Partner Skillset

Day one focuses on sharpening the leadership lens and understanding what it really takes to thrive at the partner level.

  • What makes a great GP
  • Portfolio construction & reserves planning 101
  • Investment Committee dynamics and decision-making
  • Inside the partner room: live discussion with GPs from diverse firms
  • Career evolution for the new generation of GPs

Day 2: Deal Execution Mastery

Day two focuses on advancing diligence, negotiation, and term sheet skills through immersive exercises.

  • Investor diligence simulation: from memo to IC vote
  • Negotiating term sheets: common pitfalls and best practices
  • Deal terms & financing instruments: SAFE vs. equity in early-stage deals
  • Tools lab: cap table modeling and data room essentials

Day 3: Post-Investment Leadership

On day three, participants will build their post-investment playbook, including how to lead on boards and drive portfolio outcomes.

Day 4: Fund Management & Firm Building
